PRSI Eligibility at Dunshaughlin Dental Care
Dunshaughlin Dental Care is committed to providing outstanding, affordable dental care tailored to your needs. During your first visit, we will review your treatment options and provide you with a detailed treatment plan, including a full breakdown of costs. This plan is designed to help you achieve optimal oral health and a confident smile, with recommendations that are ethical and focused on your well-being—never suggesting unnecessary procedures. Your treatment pace and level are entirely up to you, with guidance from our experienced team to help prioritise what’s most essential.
As part of our commitment to accessibility, we participate in the PRSI (Pay Related Social Insurance) scheme. This scheme allows eligible patients to receive an annual dental exam, dentist cleaning, and two small intraoral X-rays for just €15. If the cleaning is performed by a hygienist, the cost will be €38 instead of the usual €80 for a full 30-minute clean. This entitlement is available once per calendar year. We will assist you with the necessary documentation to apply this benefit smoothly.

We recommend a comprehensive examination to determine the exact requirements, treatment time, and sequence. Your dentist will discuss our fees with you in detail to ensure transparency.
Note: Certain treatments, such as those for dental fear solutions or complex orthodontic cases, may incur additional fees based on individual requirements. Some fees may also be specific to particular practices.

- CROWNS
These are restorations fabricated outside the mouth and are permanently cemented to existing tooth tissue. Income Tax relief is allowable for expenditure on core preparation for crowns and temporary conditioning crowns.
- VENEERS
These are types of crowns.
- ENDODONTICS – ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
This involves the filling of the nerve canal and not the feeling of teeth.
- PERIODONTAL TREATMENT
The following treatments qualify for tax relief: Root Planing, which is a treatment of periodontal (gum) disease; Curettage and Debridement, which are part of root planning; Gum Flaps, which is a gum treatment; Chrome Cobalt Splints, if used in connection with periodontal treatment (if the splint contains teeth, relief is not allowable); Implants following periodontal (gum) disease treatments, which include bone grafting and bone augmentation.
- ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
This involves the provision of braces and similar treatments. Income tax relief is allowable for the cost of temporary implants when they are part of the overall orthodontic treatment.
- SURGICAL EXTRACTION OF IMPACTED WISDOM TEETH
Relief is allowable when undertaken in a hospital or by a dentist during dental surgery. - BRIDGEWORK
Dental Treatment consists of an enamel-retained bridge or a tooth-supported bridge that is allowable.
