Exams and X-Rays: Comprehensive Care for Your Oral Health
At Dunshaughlin Dental Centre, we believe that prevention and early detection are key to maintaining a healthy smile. That’s why our exams and X-rays are vital to your dental care journey. These appointments provide a complete picture of your oral health, enabling us to detect and address potential issues before they become more serious.
What to Expect During Your Exam
During your dental exam, our experienced dentists will:
- Thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and overall oral health.
- Check for signs of decay, gum disease, cysts, and oral cancer.
- Discuss any concerns and provide tailored advice to improve your oral health.
We listen to your needs and provide feedback on any issues, including decay, gum health, and preventive care options. Then, we create a personalised treatment plan to meet your needs and budget.
The Role of X-Rays
X-rays are crucial in diagnosing dental issues that may not be visible during a physical examination. We use two types of X-rays to ensure a comprehensive assessment:
- Small X-rays (Bitewings): These are used to check for cavities between your teeth and assess the health of your gums.
- Extensive X-rays (OPG): For a complete oral health screening, a panoramic X-ray provides a detailed view of your entire mouth, including bone levels, wisdom teeth, cysts, sinuses, tooth roots, and nerve anatomy.
By combining these tools, we gain an excellent overall understanding of your oral health and can develop a precise treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Care for Anxious Patients
We understand that dental visits can feel overwhelming for some patients. That’s why we offer I.V. or oral sedation options to help ease anxiety and make your experience as comfortable as possible. If required, sedation can be included in your treatment plan.
